APRI has a long experience having worked on the breeds Seidi, Barki and Wahati for the ovine and caprine species. These local breeds are distributed in 3 agro-ecological zones with very contrasted environmental conditions. Coastal Zone of Western Desert (CZWD) with breeding system under hot dry conditions with extensive grazing; Upper Egypt (Assuit, Aswan) where area have very hot conditions with small agriculture land and feed shortage; Desert Oases (New Valley) with hot dry conditions with small irrigated fodder areas.
