The goal of WP3 is to characterize the current production contexts in the partners’ countries (Egypt, France, Spain and Tunisia) in a consistent way with the phenotyping of local sheep and goats breeds (WP2). This information will be used at the herd level to design models and simulations adapted to the Mediterranean area (WP4).

The objectives of WP3 are:

• Collect information on the herds’ management environment: feed resource dynamics throughseasonal changes (quantity and quality), management practices (reproduction, replacement, cullingand feeding), and marketing conditions (type of products sold, prices, constraints)
• Collect data on herd performance (demographics, technical and economical results)
• Provide information on the farmers’ strategies to face feed shortages and/or extreme temperatures
• Provide information on resilience and efficiency indicators that make sense for the farmers
